Launched in 2001, the Dot NAME universal top-level extension is the only one supposed to be for personal websites only. These domain names can include personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other titles people are popular by. At the beginning, just 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you wanted to register john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and second-level registrations were also allowed. Already bought third-level names remained operational.

You will be able to change the WHOIS contact details, to park your domain, to set up Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an active domain to our company if you obtain its EPP transfer authorization code from the present registrar company and we will renew it after the transfer has been completed. There are no particular stipulations on who can register a .NAME domain name, but in order to keep the objective behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration may be challenged.
